There are a lot of messed up people in this world. It seems to get worse as time goes on, and technology gives them the tools to spread their darkness ever wider and with more impunity. I don't presume to know exactly why, but I suspect that the Peas hit on it in the second line.

But there is a lot of good still in the world, and I hope that the "good" still outnumber the "bad". That's not to say that good people don't have some bad in them, and vice versa. We all have the potential for both. But I do believe that everyone has made a choice at some point to live their life motivated either by love or hate.
