tonight's gem?
"don't need to ask....don't need to tell."
i am officially in love with stringer mausoleum mohawks, which is particularly convenient because helena is one of the few hair designers who actually produces mohawks on a routine basis. not to mention the hawk'ed out new fishies at oz. miss stringer showed up to load some new customs while i was parked fishing for a few hours and i perved on her profile. "Like mohawks? I got fuckloads." Touche, Miss Stringer. I *DO* like mohawks.

ashia mentioned this shirt from frop a few days ago and i obviously felt it calling my name, the fatpack of 6 colors is only 49L. ticky tacky rude girl bangles 1L in the ongoing purple flower hunt at lemania/mainstore. pants were a katat0nik gift or cheapie. this skin is the lovely new blue blood group gift, and it's freakily awesome, to match the freaking awesome mohawk from stringer mausoleum.

face of shock

Sometimes an ad shows up on a webpage or forum that I use frequently and it makes me want to punch someone in the crotch. This is such a one.

Last.fm had a widget showing the following text:
"Support Free Speech and Religious Liberty...Learn More"
so of COURSE I click. especially because in tiny white transparent letters i see "Paid for by National Organization for Marriage" and I'm thinking, There's a National Organization for Marriage? Is that NOM for short? I wonder how their spouses feel about them going to all those meetings and being late for dinner....ANYWAY.
My clicking presents me with this page
http://www.nationformarriage.org/site/c.omL2KeN0LzH/b.5136577/k.8234/Carrie_Prejean_Landing_Page.htm?msource=MA0905CPS30M
Which states:
"Gay marriage activists want to SILENCE opposition.

They don't want to debate the consequences of same -- sex marriage -- even though scholars say gay marriage creates widespread legal conflicts for small business and religious institutions.

Please help support traditional marriage rights with your DONATION."

ok.
ok.
ok.
WAIT.
hang on.
I will formulate something coherent in a minute. (after i ponder why --sex marriage-- is isolated like that in the text formatting)
Scholars? What scholars are these? Scholars of ASU maybe...who also think Ben Franklin was a president, and that President Obama doesn't "deserve" an honorary degree from their prestigious institution. (see Daily Show from May 12)
Legal conflicts? Like, your not being able to fire people based on their being gay? Having to provide health care to the queers? What legal conflicts are these, and could they possibly ever be larger than "traditional marriage"s divorce proceedings.
As for "conflicts" for religious institutions I still like to think we should be harping on priests fucking young boys, and that's not even really related to being gay, pedophilia is a power thing and most true pedos are considered heterosexual.
Not to mention their media clip is of the ever slutty and intellectual Miss California...who is only barely smart enough to repeat back what she's heard repeated like a goddamn logo on Fox News about believing "marriage is between a man and a woman." You're going to make this years pageant queen "speak out" for your cause? Do we not remember LAST YEARS winner and certain disclosed pictures of her making out with other chicks? But that's ok, as long as she doesn't try to marry them, and all the unhappily married blokes out there can just continue to fap to all of these chicks when their wives leave the house.  Marriage is soooo holy. Right. That's why 1.4 million people on Second Life have an internet boyfriend or girlfriend OTHER than their wedded spouse. You want to ruin the lives of gay people everywhere? Just let them get married. Then we can all be equally miserable.

bigger picture? all i can think of is one of my favorite pieces of bumper sticker politics...
HATE IS NOT A FAMILY VALUE.
(no offense to anyone out there, that's just how i was raised...)

nice day for a bloody wedding

i don't know why brides and blood go so well together. this bloody bride's dress is one option in the domani set from bare rose...you can be unbloodied if you prefer, but really, why not live the fantasy of violence, since we're all so obsessed with it anyway. skin is bloody maria from tarnished and the whole effect feels a little kill bill-ish to me with a single gunshot wound to the head; now you can all project your hate onto my gruesome avi. pictures taken in the immersiva sim with environment arted by bryn oh. thanks morri for this tip. hair 1L maggie in pomegranate from tiny bird pre-existing opening gift.

darkness and ghosts

who says thinking in black and white is so bad anyway, i think this look came together quite effectively. morri even snapped a shot of me just in case i didn't know what i looked like... heh. i felt like i was being poetic sitting on the dock of scribble, by the bay if you will, near the white boat that navigates the rivers of sim crossings everywhere. of course for full depressive effects i forced midnight towards the end.

Silent Sorrow

I am in lots of wings again. I am definitely not religious, in fact I categorize myself as a "devout athiest" but I think there are living angels, and yeah, my cat was one of them. If the term dark angel wasn't so tainted by crappy television shows i might have described this outfit as such. I guess I'm just doing generic gothiness now. There's nothing generic about the fashion items though, like these bat fairy wings from Seven Seas. Sometimes people compliment me on my wings asking where they're from and then balk when they think it's made by the fishing people. Well, the "fishing people" make wings! Awesome, spectacular, and diverse sets of wings, all of the same quality as this pair, all in packs of dozens of color options. Beware wing lovers if you buy the Full Demo Set, as I have the folder saved and intend to go back and buy basically ALL of them now. Hooves are Ungulate Cloven in black, a set from Lazy Places, my favorite hoof furnishers on the grid. This is a red Magika hair called Bork, and the skin is Dead Dreamer from MiaSnow. I just snagged these horns in a sale recently, they're called "sinner horns" and i feel sinner-like that I can't recall the store name atm. The suit is from Silent Sparrow, and I almost wish I could organize a funeral for our lost friend this week, but in the meantime I will just dress like I'm going to one, nonstop, on Second Life, as some kind of detached indication of my ongoing sorrow. I miss him so much already...

hollow

this epic dress i'm using for my mourning period on second life is a creation of mister morrigan denimore. he titled it "hollow" and coincidentally this is also the name of one of my favorite remy zero songs. i can't fully explain why i'm stuck back in the 90's musically of late, i just think there was more poetry in music amidst all the junkies.

It felt like the sun
We are hollow
Light to the world
Film star
Define all the ways
We are hollow
I am ghost
And you are song
So you walked away from me
Were you ever there?
You were too quick or cold to believe
Unbelievable
You can never fail
We can never fail
We can only go down, south
In flames a place you forgot about

...also worn Nightshade thigh high hell boots and Kosh Cymbalta skin gift (insert necessary psych meds joke here)

harold and meowde

i'm feeling pretty morbid, for obvious reasons. i've stocked up on dead dolly type skins from weird and i picked up this adorable dolly dress there as well. this is my grave dancers union, the union of mourning and shopping.

nocturnal animals

i like to infect my friends with my feline obsession. freshman year i made a friend who ended up drawing me all these awesome pictures, several from pictures of my cat i shared with him. theo was a huge personality, he had so much love to share with everyone he ever met. thom gave my whole family an incredible gift by drawing these pictures, my mom has one framed in her house and we will use them in the future to remember theo fondly as the charismatic life force he was.

wings and things

i went back for this, all the way back to my neko-ness (mixed with unicornaphernalia of late), which is how i pretty much started my fashion journeys in second life. i bet a lot of people say that. i have heard critique of nekos like, oh, put on some ears, and you think you're a playboy bunny....but that's not exactly what it was for me. given the existing premise of me being crazy, let me say here that i have always thought of myself as part cat. i was raised in a crib with a cat sleeping next to me, i struggled through high school relying on a cat for emotional support...i feel very strongly in what i guess could most closely be described as a spiritual sense that part of me is feline. the worship of cats goes back to the egyptians, and that's just in the scope of documentable history. in my life, cats are living gods, or demons, spirits bigger than human souls, embodied in sleek beauty. today i lost a good friend, and he was a cat. excuse me if i go neko for a bit in nerdy memoriam. camera is MIA but when i get it back i want to post the most adorable picture of theo in bunny ears. he had a great sense of humor, and he will be missed desperately.

Everybody wanna pass as cats
We all wanna be big big stars
Yeah but we got different reasons for that..."

Dear Lucky Chair Ladies

Why do you shop at crappy stores? Seriously. The chair groups introduce you to probably thousands of stores, among which maybe a few hundred have stuff worth keeping and collecting. Not only that but the free blogs show a plethora of bonafide, verified, decent stuff (well, some of it at least) and you can pick and choose from what's already pictured in order to judge quality....in general the quality of the clothes is inversely related to the photoshop skill level of the blogger. The better it looks in a picture, the more edited the image looks, the less likely it is to actually look good in world. If someone is poor at photoshop but the clothing still looks good, that's when you can tell the object is worth scooping up. I am constantly amazed, shifting around chair calling groups, how many n00b skin packs people want to snag from midnight manias, how shittily constructed a sculpted set of shoes people are DYING for you to come flip the chair on. Furthermore, I'm getting peeved with the friend factor....you post boards and promos for stores of your besties, and your boyfriend, and your girlfriend, and your sl mother and daughter's stores....well I hate to point this out, but they are crap too. Then there's group joins, people randomly spamming you to join the groups for these same shitty places where there isn't even a single item I would wear in store. And notices. More, and more, and more notices with or without notecards, equally offensive really, where when I open the notecard and click on the texture advertising the product and my jaw actually drops thinking "WHO WANTS THIS? NOT I!" This is actually true of FashCon too. I have spoken on numerous occasions with friends about how much of a waste of time 90% of the fashcon notices are...again when you open the notecard and browse the offerings you should be stunned at how poor the quality is and some of the asking prices to go with these items. Now I know I don't have to go, buy, or participate in any of this. I guess I'm just bewailing a total lack of taste in the general population of Second Life "fashionistas." Please stop promoting CRAP. Thank you.

post script in the same eloquent vein as this rant:
"Have you noticed that their stuff is shit, and your shit is stuff?"

mini-me

i get so many free mini dresses, i sometimes forget about the ones i've actually paid for amidst the overwhelmingness of this particular subfolder. this fishy strawberry lil black number holds up, and puts enough of a dark tinge on otherwise springy clothes for me to be pleased with the look that i built off of it. i put a darker side hair with the dress, from a midnight mania board of all places. the hair falls on the same spot on my avi's butt as the dress does, which i found amusing. i put on the black swan lashes from [glow] studio with an old gift skin from [the obscene], and donned the hooker heels (heel-less heels? what would you call those) i just scooped up from kookie. to be a bit festive in the spirit of spring i've got the floral but still dark chained freebie necklace from SWNN free in a gloomy corner filled with freebies in harold and some hot pink bangles from ticky tacky to complete this sorta hippy street whore look.
